Cork’s failure to get to grips with Tipperary’s use of Bryan O’Mara as a sweeper was one of the most disappointing aspects of their All-Ireland SHC final defeat, according to Donal Óg Cusack.

The legendary goalkeeper said on RTÉ: “Everyone from a Cork point of view is in a state of shock, really, with that second half, it's very hard to explain.

“I think what will frustrate Cork the most is that it was an out-and-out sweeper that was set up, and everyone's used to playing sweepers now. That'll disappoint Cork that tactically they were defeated.”

Cusack also felt the Rebels were physically bullied.

“It'll also disappoint them that the more you're watching the game, physically in the second half, there were too many occasions where Cork players were on the ground, knocked to the ground, it was like as if Tipperary were more physically capable and physically up for it, that will hurt Cork.

“One of the things that will definitely hurt them is that you always associate Cork with being excellent hurlers, good at passing. Tipp outclassed Cork from a hurling point of view,” he added.
