Why does the comparison have to be made? They are both good footballers but playing for different counties.

Kilkenny and Tipp Give Us A Traditional All Ireland Hurling Final - 7 Like(s)
It's sad to see the failure of that great manager Cody, outstanding Kilkenny players of the recent past and a number of Kilkenny posters, to be gracious in defeat. They have always handled victory well but defeat has shown a different side of them with cringe-worthy claims and comments. Very disappointing.

Damien Duff - 6 Like(s)
The GAA are shipping a lot of flak over this and every little 'jumped-up-Damien' is encouraged to have a free shot at the organisation. However, I think the blame lies elsewhere. Since the late Liam had played Gaelic, I'm surprised that the organising committee hadn't approached the GAA to co-host a fund-raiser in PUC rather than go ahead and organise a soccer game and then hope that public opinion would force the GAA to allow the game to go ahead in PUC. Both Liam's family and the GAA have been placed in difficult situations not of their making

Dublin' Costello throwing away the kicking tees - 6 Like(s)
Costelloo is shown, in footage in the Independent today, throwing away Clarke's kicking tees as he hurried to take a quick kick out after Rock's last score. Surely this was in equally poor taste as Keegan's throwing his GPS in the direction of Rock as he took his free. Amazingly neither the ref or or the umpires saw this or the fouling of three Mayo players as they tried to make themselves available for the kick-out. Perhaps more amazing is the fact that Charlie Redmond did not see any of that either or he would surely have being calling for 'examples' to be made of them as well as Keegan

Crazy decision - 6 Like(s)
Fully merits a two game ban. It was 'bully-boy' behaviour on Forde's part - a big man with a hurl in his hand going to sort out a small man. He should have let the ref deal with the problem, that's why the ref is there.

Meath are definitely struggling and it can't be easy for their supporters and posters. I don't think posters should be so hard on Meath simply because one poster, RD, goes out of his way to annoy and insult posters from other counties. Most other Meath posters have disowned him long ago. Hopefully Meath stay up and begin the long climb back to the top.

Very good game in the coditions that prevailed. Monaghan will feel aggrieved with a couple of late decisions. Calling them back for a free in the middle of the field when McManus was through on goal was very poor. The ref obviously felt the need to play additional injury time, during which Dublin equalised. but blew the whistle when Monaghan got possession from the kick-out.

Replying To Liamwalkinstown:  "UM just wondering, do u see yourself as an Antrim man or an Ulster Man? And if its the latter does that not mean you yoyrself perpetuate the very separation that you rail against by encouraging the very same ulster v 26 mentality that u claim to resent?"

Replying To HarryO:  "Just wondering have Provincial lost their meaning. This year in Munster we have Kerry and Clare. In Connaught Ros/ Leit v Gal/ Mayo, Dublin v Kildare/ Meath. In Ulster Tyrone v ???? All of the above games will be mis-matches, and of little public interest !! HarryO Ros fan"
Didn't know Tyrone were already in the Ulster final. That will shock some Donegal supporters

Division One 2017 - 4 Like(s)

Replying To endgame:  "Yes it will take time and patience. We have a very young team shorn of experienced players but I think they will learn fast.I even expect us to have a good championship 2017.McStay seems to be priming his young team to peak in the Summer. We'll beat Leitrim despite what was posted elsewhere here and we'll see after that."
The big problem is not that the players are young and inexperienced, but that there is no defensive system in place and no indication that one is being worked on. Consequently individual backs are are having to carry the can and take a lot of criticism for conceding high scores. This destroys the confidence of young players. No other county team today operates without a defensive system that suits their particular players.

The major uisce - 4 Like(s)
I'm at a loss to know who controls the forays of the water carriers on to the field of play. In most games they come on very unobtrusively away from the play or when there is a break in the play, delivering water, or messages from the manager. However some teams seem to need their water carrier on the field nearly all the time. In some instances, admittadly only a few, we had them getting caught up in incidents with opposition players/officials. Having watched the Donegal/Fermanagh game live and the Monaghan/Donegal game on TV, I found myself being drawn to the actions of the Donegal water carrier. Repeatedly he ran across in front of the opposition free taker as he was trying to take a free. I also noticed him doing the same when the opposition goalkeeper was attempting a quick/short kick out. At first I thought it was just a lack of thought on his part, but as it continued to happen I began to wonder if it was a tactic dreamed up by management. I don't think that is likely and that it may be the man himself doing his own thing. Either way management or the ref should have called a halt to it. Have posters got some thoughts on how water carriers are used?

Replying To PoolSturgeon:  "100% arock. As the World Health Organisation General Director Dr. Tedros is quoted as saying yesterday, the problem is not the virus itself but of people panicking about it."

Is Dublin's Success False, Tarnished And Bought? - 4 Like(s)
Dublin are champions and deserve to be on their displays throughout the year. I don't see haw anybody could dispute that. However the point MacKenna is making is a fair one and needs to be faced up to by the GAA. Horan, on his appointment as President, stated that he saw payment to managers and the need for tiered c'ships as the greatest problems facing the GAA. This is nonesence. The biggest problem by far, and one that will continue to spiral out of control, is what to do about the Dublin situation. This is not simply a team having a great spell at the top of the wheel like Kerry in the past. If you look at the way Gavin has been able to introduce new talent year on year it seems inevitable that continued domination is almost certain. It's naive to say that other counties can train harder and catch up. The problem is much bigger than that. I don't know the answers but I do know that if the GAA don't address the problem in an objective way the inter-county game will die on it's feet.

Connacht Senior Football Championship 2017 - 4 Like(s)

Replying To Yondu:  "Out of interest when did Roscommon last score 30 points in championship game in Hyde park and what is Roscommons biggest winning margin against Leitrim in Hyde park? The 26 named is threadbare but expected when you see David Keenan,Ultan Harney,Kevin Higgins,Tom Corcoran,Donie and Cathal Shine,Conor,Ronan and Nial Daly,Neill Collins,Cathal Cregg, and Cathal Compton are all missing for one reason or another."
How about a bit of positive thinking and concentrate on the players who are there, rather than reeling off a long list of players who are not there and, in most cases, will not be there in the future.

Dublin's Success Not Down To Money - GAA President - 3 Like(s)

Replying To Jack_Goff:  "link Interesting interview with John Horan Regarding Dublin. A few snippets. "GAA president John Horan has said the chief reason for Dublin's dominance is the work of voluntary coaches and not the funding the county has received over the past decade." "Almost €18m in games development funding, with Kildare and Meath receiving just over €1m over the same period. Accounting for population the rate of investment in Dublin was still more than double that of any other county". Good to get the view of the president who doesn't believe the amount of money invested into the development of underage players has much effect on counties like Meath, Kildare or Dublin."
Now weaker counties know what to do to get up to Dublin's standard - get voluntary coaches. Thanks John for the tip.

NFL Division 1 - 3 Like(s)

Replying To Young_gael:  "As I feared, it has come to pass. A pasting in Navan was always a possibility, but many felt not against this particular Donegal opposition. A return of 0-7 in Division one, at home game nonetheless, isn't remotely good enough. I reinforce what other posters have said about Meath posters on this site, you need a reality check and today the proof was in the pudding, as I for one, have been quietly pointing out for a few weeks, and I say that not looking for an ego boost, its just the reality. Im a fan and always will turn up for Meath games, but today was very, very disheartening. As I said in posts in the past few weeks, we got promoted in 2019 with a full squad at peak in the spring, and that now seems to be backed up by the lethargy and inefficiency we've seen against every division one side they've faced since. We're now operating off of an injury depleted squad and a team who simply don't have a goalkeeper. Without grating players or management, we're quite simply miles off and must get real. I fear that this league may do serious damage to our panel, and I lament the away games including the game vs. Dublin in Croke Park. We must treat them all as free shots, and the players should be encouraged to express themselves and play as much at they can in every occasion. This must be made into a learning curve if we are to progress in any way in the coming years."
It's difficult for the Meathteam, management and the fans but the gap between Di and D2 is much bigger than people realise. We see teams like Meath, Cavan, Roscommon and Kildare struggle to survive, having earned promotion from D2, It is suggested that playing against stronger teams will bring them on but often it seems their experiences in D1 demoralises them rather than encourages them. I don't know how teams can overcome these transition problems but one sure thing is that unless the promoted team has strength in dept they don't have a hope.
