Harte says Sean Cavanagh was targeted? - 18 Like(s)
Tyrone have always been sinned against, never been the instigators. I have zero sympathy for Tyrone, Micky Harte or Sean Cavanagh. What goes around comes around and by God it took a long time for Tyrone to feel the sense of injustice that many a team has felt at the hands of Tyrone. Sean Cavanagh had no shame in rugby tackling McManus. Harte never critisised McCann for him getting Darren Hughes sent of last year, then talks about Keegan getting Cavanagh booked. The sledging that Tyrone brought to the game and every other negative and cynical aspect that accompanied there success. They have brilliant footballers but by god I'm delighted to see Tyrone knocked out and karma finally biting back.

Why bother? - 7 Like(s)
Why do Rte even bother showing highlights of games they show roughly 10% of scores. For example Monaghan scored 1-11 last night and only showed 1-2 of that. David Clarke was brilliant last night but only showed him being beaten by Hughes. The supports want to see the action not Spillane and Dessie Dolan harping on about it being all doom and gloom for Mayo after a game in February.
The Donegal and Kerry game was just as bad as was Dublin and Cavan. We want to see all the scores instead of commentary on 5 scores in the highlights. It's pretty obviously the commentators don't even leave the Rte studio

Monaghan V Donegal - 6 Like(s)
Congratulations to Donegal on a fully deserved victory last night. Where the better team in the first half and most of the second half. Monaghan were useless last night can't remember a Monaghan team playing so badly. The one point result flattered Monaghan. The two goals in the first half kept us in a game we had no right to be in. Donegal attacked with purpose with brilliant lines of running and changing the point of attack it was a joy to behold at times. Every time Monaghan got a point back Donegal went up and scored straight after it. We could simply never get back to parity. I left the game feeling very disappointed in the Monaghan team and Management as I believe mistakes on the line and on the field cost us big time. Monaghan retreated far too deep, as a result of the goal chances coughed up the week before. Dropping Conor McCarthy was a big mistake, his replacement was all at sea when he tried to drop back in the diffensive screen one and his naive positioning coughed up two points in the first half. But Monaghan turned the ball over repeatedly, I don't mind if Donegal players actually turned the ball over that's fair enough but back kick passing and hand passing killed us. On at least 5 occasion Monaghan player kicked a ball to a man 15 yards away and resulted in a turn over. Donegal punished Monaghan turn overs brilliantly like any decent team would. The width of a crossbar ended up being the difference. Malachy played too defensive and the shame is we have forwards that can win a game, but simply doesn't put enough faith in them. Jack McCarron scored two brilliant long range scores when introduced, McCarthy is a wee Magician, Barry McGinn from the under 21's and McManus. Monaghan to go forward have to show more faith in the talent that is there. But we had no right to be near Donegal last night and I wish them the best in the final and hope Donegal go and win it. On a side note we have our rivalry over the last few years, but not a bad word between supporters and its brilliant compared to the hate and vile from other counties supporters.

Fair play McStay - 6 Like(s)
Fair play to Kevin McStay for calling out bad refereeing, for too long referee's are not being consistent. Too often it one set of rules for one team a completely different for another. The standard of refereeing is awful. Too many referees want to be the centre of attention, I seen it last week with Monaghan not getting frees that Kerry where getting. The same thing happened with Padraig Hughes last night in Omagh with Tyrone getting the run of decisions Monaghan didn't get. Same with Joe McQuillian getting the dubs back into the game agaisnt Tyrone. Ciaran Branigan gave a mystery free to Donegal last week to get a draw. The referee in the Kildare match allowed a quick free to be taken inside the 13 metre line which led to a goal. Too many mistakes by the referee's is costing teams points and it not right. Its time the gaa admit that they have to try to implement a higher standard of officiating because it is a cancer on the game as Much as blanket defences or hand passing.

Replying To Monaghan Exile:  "Whatever anyone thinks of the McKenna cup, its done & dusted now, so on to the league & hopefully upwards. Galway will be tough, but by all means beatable. Living in Galway, they are bit like ourselves, they d'ont know whats coming. Comer seems to be back to his form of 2 years, strong running & hard to stop. Shane Walshe is in top form, can score of either foot, a class act ...... If we can contain these two, then we have a massive chance. Despite some people being negative on this forum, I've no doubt our brilliant supporters will rally around the boy's again. Our win in the Super8 in Salthill is still talked about in Galway, especially the unbelievable support Monaghan had. Lovely memories, here's hoping for more next Sunday!... hon the Farney!"
Unfortunately travelling numbers will be reduced significantly, there is a lot of factors the poor performances last year. I think the management is the main reason attendances will drop, from talking to lot of genuine gael in the county, they have lost interested in the county team over the managerial appointment. Their is an anger amongst supporters in Monaghan over the appointment. Ta Hopefully he proves a lot of people wrong for the players sake.

Malachy's Successor - 5 Like(s)
The sad thing about the end of Malachy rein as Monaghan manager was the lack of respect by supporter walking out with 15 minutes to go. It showed a lack of respect to the team and management for what they give this county over the years. One such person to walk out was Seamus McEnaney.

Monaghan Championship debutants under Malachy O'Rourke. 1.Rory Beggan, 2.Ryan Wylie, 3.Conor Boyle, 4.Padraig Donaghy 5.Ryan McAnespie, 6.Fintan Kelly, 7.Conor McCarthy, 8.Stephen O'Hanlon, 9.Niall Kearns, 10.Dessie Ward, 11.Barry Kerr, 12.Thomas Kerr, 13.Shane Carey, 14.Paudie McKenna, 15.Jack McCarron 16. Micheal Bannigan. 17. Darren Freeman. David Garland is the only player in the above list that didn't start a championship match under Malachy. So if people are going to try a spin the narrative that Malachy didn't try and bring through players its simply false.

If Banty is nominated by the county executive. It might be time for the club's to vote Banty out like they did in 2010.

Big learning curve for the new players only 7 players started today, that started in the championship in Castlebar. Its a new team. All the bashing Vinny has been getting in regard to Mulligan is a joke. Garland won't play and Mulligan was with the Monaghan panel in Killarney.

Replying To FarneyLenny:  "I just don't understand it.......surely there has to be someone, anyone"
That man was on today for one reason and one reason only. To stop Aidan O'Shea. Against Kerry O'Shea was brilliant, the first half bar the point done nothing. McAdam nullified him, second half O'Shea got more into the game after Kelly was sent off. It's completely wrong to make little of him. He is a man marker, he done great job man marking Paul Flynn, Graham Reilly, McKearnan in the past just to name a few. Just cos he doesn't be on the ball doesn't mean he ain't doing his job for the team. That is why Malachy has selected him, he is not a midfielder, we have only one midfielder all league .so not need to get personal.

Replying To Blueblood4life:  "Banty & McCaugue seemed to pick up all the negative attention, while Vinny & the big money coach from Kerry all get a free pass. Strange."
The reason Buckley or Vinny dont get slack is because Buckley has a proven record in all the counties he has been to. Vinny entered his first job at senior level as a selector. Banty & McCague were involved in the shambles of an under 20 team in 2019. Also last years under 20 team was the worst prepared team I have ever seen in the county and McCague was manager. This is the reason Vinny doesn't get flack because he hasn't a track record of making a balls of teams.

Replying To monaghanmad:  "I believe banty had one eye on Cavan next week today. You will see Kieran Hughes, Malone Carey all in next week and maybe kearns too. Result was all that mattered and Meath had run most teams close before. Remember we are blooding a serious amount of young players, mc carthy bannigan o hanlon woods garland lavelle and I see o Toole Mulligan and mc kenna on bench too so banty is doing what malachy didn't and blooding players. He can't do any better can he ? He gave these young lads a chance today and if we beat Cavan then I am sure he will give them a go v Antrim and games after that if we make it thst far with suspensions and injuries kicking in. Except for 2 or 3 lads all the best are on the squad and that is due to banty. It's progress and it's indirect progress that will pay off down the road when banty is gone, I can guarantee it. As for Cavan game, let's call it. We should be winning it, Kelly onto mc Kiernan to man mark him, Boyle on Madden, ward on Martin Reilly and mc anespie on conroy centre half and we should be on our way. I noticed today how our shot selection was far tighter in the first half and second half to a certain extent apart from manus who is free to do whatever. Woods done a good shift around the middle and lavelle just looked a bit raw there but done ok playing against a strong Meath midfield. Although game today was disappointing, we have been in div 1 since 2015 so we have bigger fish to fry and they will be fried next week."
Blooding players. The only two newcomers played today Woods and Lavelle that didn't feature under O'Rourke. This is Malachy's team. Four out the starting forwards taken off all young lads and Woods. Monaghan were extremely lucky, surely Drew Wylie could play Centre back on the heavy ground. Seems to have been wrote of by banty. Also when a player is taken of its manners to acknowledge him. Need to be flying on all cylinders next week, as our neighbours will be hurting and mad to prove a lot of people wrong.

Saturday week s massive, win and we have a great chance to make an all ireland final. The atmosphere was brilliant in Clones today, When the whole county came out to get cheer the boys on. Unfortunately we got pulled back at the end. Destiny is in our own hands to top this group and get to an all ireland semi. I appeal for everybody to make the extra effort and get to Salthill. This team owes us nothing, but Saturday week is the day we owe them.

Shame on Tipperary supporters - 4 Like(s)
I must say I was shocked to hear on the radio that only 300 people went to Thurles to cheer on the footballers. After their great year last year reaching an all ireland semi final. I think the gaa folks of Tipperary should hang their heads in shame. After the commitment, effort and sacrifices the footballers put in last year that a few people could get off their arses and support them. The Hurlers weren't even out so that makes it worse. Tipp supports hang your head in shame

Rory Beggan - 4 Like(s)
There seems to be an agenda to make sure Rory Beggan is robbed of his all star this year. Rory has been simply magnificent all year for Monaghan, we wouldn't have made the semi final without him. He long range point scoring was simply out of this world. He kickouts were magnifant and gave Monaghan a massive platform which was the one of the key element of our season. Stephen Cluxton will go down as the best goalkeeper of all time, he had a brilliant year but Rory was on a level above Stephen this year. Don't rob the lad of his deserved award.

Stephen Cluxton. - 4 Like(s)

Replying To clondalkindub:  "No All Star for Stephen Cluxton has to be the worst decision in the history of the awards, the man didn't put a foot wrong all season from the very first league game to the All Ireland final with unbelievable saves great catches and kick outs he's been the best by a mile , we played Mayo in the league this year Clarke was brutal his kick outs were a joke , yes he's a good keeper but when his team needed him most this year he kicks the ball over the side line, Cluxton has been Robbed really bad call. Well done to Andy Moran it would never happen if it was the other way round but to be fair he had a great year."
Only for Jason Sherlock running in and telling Cluxton not to kick long, he would have cost Dublin the All-Ireland.

Monaghan have had Steve Williams as goalkeeping coach for the last 5 or so years. Williams played with the top Shelbourne team in the early 2000's winning 5 league titles. Was Dundalk goalkeeping coach for the last few years also until he left the club at the end of the current season. He is now Goalkeeping coach with Louth for the 2021 season. People are making it out as a big deal that Rodgers is part of the back room team. Every county team has them, it's just the PR team involved with Banty throws every bit of news to the media to try and cover for the disaster of 2020. Remember it was Steve Williams who was helping develop Rodgers game over the last 5 years with Dundalk.
