Sarah was very involved in Cortown GAA and loved going to games. She was President of the club at the time of her death. Sarah's husband Tom was involved with the club for many years and served as a committee member. Her sons Martin, Joe, Johnny and Seamus lined out for Cortown. A grandson Christopher McGrath also played with the club. Sarah was presented with a Meath Sean Gael award in 2002.
