Kildalkey's Noel Kirby

Kildalkey 3-21 St Pats 2-16

After a big win v Wolfe Tones in round 1 and a bye in round 2 Kildalkey’s third string met one of the favourites in St Pats at home on Saturday evening in sunny conditions.

Short a number of players for various reasons the men in blue put in a brilliant display in what was a high scoring hugely enjoyable and entertaining encounter with plenty of good passages of hurling.

Pats went led at halftime 2-11 to 1-11 after leading 2-4 to 0-6 at the water break Kildalkey’s goal coming from the penalty spot from Paul Fagan after he was fouled himself.

Noel Kirby made a return to the village and made an immediate impact as his experience and accuracy from placed balls and frees was vital to the victory Cathal Egan with 2 Sean Colhoun with a long range effort and Ger Geoeghan were others to score in a lively first half.

Slowly but surely Kildalkey started to turn the screw and Tomas Reillly hit two great points at the start of the half and Kirby with 2 from play along with a batted goal after being moved to full forward along with an Evan Geoeghan point had the village leading at the second water break 2-18 to 2-14.

At Pats to their credit never gave up and kept the pressure on but 3 more Kirby points 2 frees (1 super effort from over 100 yards)and another from play along with a great solo effort from Fagan sealed the win after a great hours entertainment for the supporters the final score read Kildalkey 3-21 St Pats 2-16.

The back line were brilliant throughout as Conor Dunne, Daire Lehart and Cathal O’Sullivan and Ciaran Browne were immense throughout.

Ger Geoeghan, Tomas Reilly, Paul Fagan and Noel Kirby used all their experience and were full value for their win in what was a great win for the club.
