Tributes have been paid to a talented young footballer in Mayo who died tragically last weekend.

Thirteen-year-old Caylum Flynn was described as a "tigerish wing back" by his club Carras.

"Caylum was a tigerish wing back with an eye for a score and had a bright future ahead of him, sadly his life was ended too soon. He was full of life and character and will be sorely missed by all who knew him," the South Mayo club said.

“All of us at Carras offer our deepest sympathies to his parents Alan and Michelle, brothers Evan and Ryan, grandparents, many uncles, aunts and cousins."

Mayo GAA also paid the following tribute to the teenager: "Mayo GAA are saddened to hear of the passing of Caylum Flynn. Since condolences to his parents Alan and Michelle and brothers Evan and Rayn, extended family and friends. Condolences to his friends and teams in Carras and Garrymore GAA."
