Longford Championship 2019 - 1 Like(s)
Following on with the chat about next years championship. 2 things I dont agree with at all are 1. that this years finalists are kept apart in next years groups, why? Its championship, open draw for 2 groups.
2, that winners of next years groups go straight to semi. again its given an advantage to the stronger teams. I think both rules would be give advantages to stronger teams but its championship so all should have equal opportunities.
My preferred option would be 3 open draw rounds, anyone meet anyone, luck of the draw and top 4 in semifinals. or again open draw for quarters with bottom 2 in relegation. either way no1 should have an advantage and in championship ya need a bit of luck.

Did McCarty get booked for the hit on Mullins. Hope he didn't as it was a savage shoulder.

Replying To maximus02: "As far as I am aware it was proposed that Rathcline and Cashel would still play in the intermediate championship as their own entity and also amalgamate together to compete in the senior championship similar to the divisional teams in the Kerry senior championship. I think a couple of years back Bryan Sheehan won an intermediatede championship with his own club St. Mary's Cahirciveen and a senior championship with the South Kerry amalgamation in the same year. I don't think this amalgamation is going ahead anyway so you need not worry. I don't think it was that bad of an idea though, the standard of club football in south Longford is pretty poor so it might have been nice to have a competitive outfit at senior level." Yes but the 4 teams in the lower group in the senior are nearly the same standard as the top 2-3 teams in the intermediate championship. so why join 2 top intermediate teams and put the against the lower senior. Cashel or Rathcline would put up a good game against say Granard, Fr Manning Gaels, Ballymahon, Mostrim on their own never mind if they joined together. Makes no sense to me at all.

I would disagree about jimmys. He put out the leg and tripped as he tackled, a trip is a black card. Saying Mchugh black was soft but soft doesnt mean it wasnt.
With so much negative pulling, dragging, hitting, off d ball stuff going on people need to start blaming the players not the ref. Its a cop out for every team to blame referees instead of taking responsibility for themselves.
