Johnstownbridge 2-9

Moorefield had to do it the hard way against Johnstownbridge at St Conleth's Park today after coming from seven points down, despite having a numerical disadvantage, to book their place in the Kildare SFC semi-finals.

With a strong wind at their backs, Luke Dempsey's Johnstownbridge got off to a rip-roaring start and led 2-2 to 0-1 after 8 minutes with goals from Niall Vaughan and Daniel Flynn.

Moorefield clawed back the early deficit to just a point at half-time (2-4 to 0-9) and drew level by the 40th minute but were rocked back on their heels when midfielder Aaron Masterson was dismissed on a straight red card.

However, they continued to battle admirably throughout and outscored their opponents by 0-3 to 1-5 following Masterson's sending off.

In the second quarter-final in Newbridge, Ben McCormack and Conor Hartley both bagged goals to help holders Sarsfields ovecome Raheens 2-14 to 2-6.
