Lets get big crowd behind the footballers sunday - 6 Like(s)
I will be going kids in tow on sunday to get behind my team (both senior and junior) While i know results have been poor but the lads are training hard and deserve a good crowd sunday. Wouldnt it be great if we could get 5 or 6 thousand plus. WE got bigs crowds in 2000s there is no reason why we cannot get them again SO LETS GET BEHIND OUR TEAMS ON SUNDAY AND GIVE THEM A BIG HOME CROWD AND LETS CHEER THEM ON HOPEFULLY TO VICTORY

At 17.33 dublin were playing the all ireland champions in a very attractive and important league fixtures in Dublin. Surely at 17.33 any tru blue dublin gaa supporter would be at the game, or as circumstances may dictate be watching on tv e.g work kids etc, surely any tru dublin supporter would be more interested in the game rather than posting anti rugby stuff wouldnt they. Unless of course they were more interesting in dissing rugby than gaa. Possibly if you were a vincents supporter you would be en route from the north most probably going to catch the dublin v tyrone game. I very much doubt that at 19.41 any true blue die hard dubs supporter (at half time in a huge league game) would not be interested in posting on this site and would be more concerned with events on the field and would probably be at the game. That is of course assming the person is more interested in gaa than dissing rugby Tomorrow you wont be hearing from me until well into the later evening as i will be cheering on my beloved limerick v westmeath and at half time i wont be one bit bothered with the anti rugby drivel that goes on here. If i wasnt coaching my kids rugby and hurling teams in the morning id probably have made the trek to wexford park

brillian game incredible atmosphere - superb mayo support on a long journey- was hoping for draw to bring both teams back here next weekend , every time mayo come down here its a belter , very weird to have my kids playing football and not hurling on pitch after games powter for cork and cillian oconnor andy moran brilliant have supported mayo in footbal (after limerick) since 90s ye lost two all ireland and saw yer biggest rivals win the thing like ourselves, also means i supporterd teams losing about 13 all irelands (inc replays) -- like today gonna wear my munster jersey undr the limerick one for rest of season and hope ye win it however limerick takes priority and on to our 21s on wednesday night - 2 good sides lads worth a watch

Somewhat surprising to see that even though the championships have now begun football and hurling are still covered 25% less often than Rugby Union. mediaman (Antrim) - Posts:314 - 01/06/2016 21:02:57 18 yes but there was 4 live gaa games compared to zero rugby, on rte. plus sunday game , review of 2015, pairc life with jacqui hurley and the marty squad on radio one (on same time as sunday six one news so you will miss that!!!!) and even podge collins documentary on utv

I think them boys "took the soup" --tonydoranfan (Wexford) - Posts:214 - 15/03/2017 23:14:19 was down in cork last night to cheer on my beloved limerick, proud of the performances but gutted with the result, third year in a row we have gone toe to toe with the big guns in munster - and third year we just came short. but my dissappointed is lightened with the comedy gold that is put up here (well only a bit) so even though i love hurling footballand rugby in equal measue i am a "souper" but i have to laugh this is coming from somebody who around two weeks ago was posting that he was watching a womens rugby game on tv, at the same time his county were playing a very important home nfl game, couldnt even be bothered to support his team , tell you something if limerick were playing a home (and most of the time even an away league) there is no game of rugby on tv that would make me miss it - (id record the rugby and watch it after) ...ah well i do get a laugh!

it was fantastic they as always they let people on the pitch after the game the limerick players were inundated with autograph and selfie requests and in fairness they all obliged eveyone and if kids wanted to chat with the players, the players always have an extremely polite and good humoured response, and in fairness if anybody said well done the immediate response was thank you. Clare lads even though gutted did the same (harder to do when you lost) And it nice the kids can have a puck around on the pitch where the saw their heroes a few mins before , its not just a limerick thing ,all players do it or at least the majority do, i go to thurles for games quite a bit as a neutral and see it there as well all the counties, reflects well on them their clubs, families and on the gaa in general i think. Its an important toll in selling gaa to young kids.

I dont disagree for the sake of it. Its a web forum for discussion. Discussion involves debating different viewpoints. when i put the situation on another thread to soma and asked for his view his response was excellent - t's disappointing for the players who put so much into the season and for fans like you who spend a fortune following them but it doesn't surprise me at all. the decision did surprise me - i never thought the IRFU would have such a low opinion of club rugby to make such a shocking decision, i know now janesboro (Limerick) - Posts:1281 - 24/04/2017 18:21:35 im excellent friends with several of that young munster team and played underage with some of them and they got on with it as having contracted players in your club squad means you run possibility of losing them to the teams that contract them and pay their wages. The players involved with Munster A or most of them are contracted to Munster and Munster will be their priority. Your club is lucky enough to have these players affiliated to ye especially when with most of them as well as most of your squad were not developed by your club. Like Colm Skehan is from Thurles. Fineen Wycherly Bantry Bay. Alan Tynan Roscrea. Shane Airey Thomond. James O Connor Tralee. Ha"
once again your arguement does not perfectly stack up , we are debating the awful decision by the irfu to schedule semis this weekend, the original home club of our players has absolutely no relevance to the subject, every other club recruits players at all levels pro and amateur (and we have more guys originating from outside the club than the ones you have mention) , even countries recruit players nowadays, so i fail to see the relevance, who cares where they come from when them boys played for munsters sunday they gave it everything as the have done all season and were a credit to themselves its still a horrible , dreadful decision by the irfu -nothing you have said has even remotely led me to a change of opinion on the matter

Yes that was the official attendance but Under 16's were not charged so I don't believe they would be counted."]in 2014 limerick v cork minor hurling munster semi got 4k (not inc kids) on wednesday night , 2013 and 2014 munster minor finals (both v waterford) went to replays on wednesday night and got 6k approx, for the 2013 game they originally had one stand open , shortly before throw in they opened opposite stand and lots of people walked accross pitch to go to other stand , this is few mins before game while playes did warm up 2015 under 21 final had around 18k mostly limerick - the underage gaa gets phenomenal support

A perspective from a limerick point of view I go to games each week, kids go with me too they mad into it, watch all the bigs games on the box. Like kids the world over they love watching big games and follow their local teams munster and ireland in rugby, limerick in hurling and football and man u and ireland in soccer, we also support clubs in all 4 sports Lets compare following Munster to following limerick you got 6 guaranteed big european games , plus about 10 ireland ones in 2016 Limerick hurlers and footballers had 3 championship games each - thats 16 v 6,-2017 will likely be the same Munster have 28 league and cup games -10 of them in limerick Limerick senior Gaa around 20 ish - maybe 9 in limerick - only big game in limerick th elast while was munster final Almost all munster games will be on tv, most limerick games wont , footballers will get few mins highlights. The munster games even last year were getting around 8k for pro 12 when we were struggling. hurlers are getting a lot less , i was at limerick v westmeath football last week -most young munster games get more than what was at that game - Munster play almost week in week out, limerick hurlers may get to league quarters -lose that - we wont be playing for around 4-6 weeks, lose to clare , we wont play for another 4, same for footballers, at start of season you know the munster season down to the week. I dont know when either limerick hurlers or footballers will be playing their second round championship game. even last year when struggling munster would get around 8k per match- Limerick hurlers will be playing kerry offaly and galway (now a dead rubber) , in front of much smaller crowds, even if we were in division one we would havce 2-3 home games getting 8-10k There is more big rugby games than gaa at the moment especially if your in limerick , so i can see how kids and parent may be swayed toward the game with the bigger crowds, also i can plan easier in advance as to what rugby games we will go to compared to gaa. also being professional there is more of the rugby stars on the telly than the gaa ones (with the various media bans) so maybe one way to get more coverage could be to have championship restructure involving more big games e.g let the league become the main championship - both hurling and football maybe integrate the provincials ala the jim mcguinness proposal, maybe its a rubbish idea but its certainly better than complaining about rugby on tv taking the above post a bit further I also follow club rugby and gaa. Injuly the ulster bank league rugby fixtures are announced and bar weather postponements is adhered to so players and fans alike can plan around it, i support young musnter and can easily plan away trips, in limerick we have 5 round robin games in senior hurling -we dont know when them games are going to take place yet - so right now i can plan what club rugby ill take the kids to for the next two months, but at present im waiting until i get the limerick leader on a thursday to see if theres a gaa game to go to the following weekend. So maybe listening to the various calls to a bit of structure to the club season may help . Certainly its better than complaining about rugby. Neither post is designed to knock the gaa or to say in any way rugby is better than gaa (to me they are equally good) but they are just some observations from shannonside , in summary more big games and a bit more structure please -and lets have some improvement suggestion rather than whinging about rte covering rugby

And remember there are 3 senior championship matches this weekend. All 3 have been ignored so far this week by our National Television station while it has already begun previewing some Rugby Union challenge matches that are weeks away. Parity of esteem? mediaman (Antrim) - Posts:313 - 31/05/2016 20:50:40 1860387 Are there not 5 senior championship games on the weekend -3 of them on tv, plus the ring meagher and rackard cup finals. Seems like parity of esteem to me -what rugby union challenge matches are these to which you refer.

In my opinion he is just simply highlighting the bias towards rugby in particular for the posters on this forum, nothing more nothing less. bumpernut (Antrim) - Posts:1244 - 02/06/2016 10:24:32 Fair enough but when rte do right by gaa he never mentions it, so mention of live games, the toughest trade programme (portrayed gaa in great light), no mention of blanket radio coverage or the marty squad on rte radio its all negative. on mention of great tg4 coverage. plus he does have an anti rugby agenda, which grates those of us who like both gaa and rugby
