Former Wexford chairman and current Leinster vice-chairman Derek Kent has been appointed as the chair of the Central Competitions Control Committee.

The Taghmon-Camross official has been handed the leadership role of the high powered committee by Larry McCarthy, who took over from John Horan as GAA President yesterday. 

Kent succeeds Kilkenny's Ned Quinn, who has been elected a GAA trustee, and will be assisted by former Donegal All-Ireland winner Martin McHugh, John Halbert (Cork), Mary Judge (Galway) and ex-Meath captain Seamus Kenny.

Westmeath's Matt Shaw and Meath's Brian Rennick served as chair of the Central Hearings and Central Appeals Committees, respectively, for the past three years, but this time the roles are reversed.
