Tributes have been pouring in for the late Damian Casey after the Tyrone hurling star’s tragic death due to an accident experienced in a swimming pool in Spain.

The Dungannon native played over 100 games for Tyrone, scoring 39-908 since his debut in 2012 and captaining them to the Nicky Rackard Cup in 2014. He also played a starring role in the Red Hands’ most recent success in the competition by landing 0-14 in last month’s final win over Roscommon at Croke Park.

Tyrone county board chairman Michael Kerr described the 29-year-old’s death as “ beyond belief” in a statement released this morning.
