Cribbin tipped to take Kildare reins

Speculation is mounting that Tom Cribbin will be the next Kildare senior football manager.
Cribbin served as a selector under Jack O'Connor, who stepped down as manager after two years a couple of weeks ago, and is believed to be the frontrunner to replace the Kerry man. It is also rumoured that former Galway and Sligo manager Kevin Walsh will be part of his ticket.
Following O'Connor's surprise departure, former Kildare captain Eamonn Callaghan had led calls for 2018 All-Ireland U20 winning manager and ex-Wicklow senior boss Davy Burke to be handed the reins, but the county board are expected to turn to Cribbin, who has a wealth of management experience at inter-county level.
The Clane man previously managed Laois, Offaly and Westmeath in that order, guiding the latter to back-to-back Leinster SFC finals in 2015 and '16 against Dublin. He also managed Edenderry and Clane to Offaly and Kildare SFC successes in the early 2000s.
