The GAA community in north Mayo has been plunged into mourning following the tragic passing of one of its brightest young footballers.
Raphael Sunday, who was a talented player with Erris St Pat's, an underage amalgamation of the Ballycroy and Kiltane GAA clubs, and was a third-year student at St Brendan’s College in Belmullet, died suddenly yesterday.
The youngster put in a man-of-the-match performance for Erris St Pat’s in their U16 county final victory over Bonniconlon last year. Also a talented soccer player, Raphael was a regular with Bangor Hibs FC and trained at Geesala Boxing club.
The Ballycroy and Kiltane GAA clubs and North Mayo Board expressed their sympathies on Twitter.
