Meath made their goals count in a 4-8 to 0-16 victory against Clare in Navan this afternoon to make it two wins from two in Division 2 of the Allianz Football League.

Donal Lenihan (2-2), Jason Scully and Jordan Morris supplied the goals as the Royals held out to deny the Banner men and keep themselves at the top end of the table ahead of Saturday week’s trip to Derry.

The Oak Leafers themselves picked up their second win in as many weeks by seeing off Mickey Harte’s Louth side on a 2-11 to 1-11 scoreline in Ardee.

Shane McGuigan once again led the way for the UIster champions with 1-5, but it was Niall Toner’s 67th minute goal that proved the winning of game for the visitors.

In Newbridge, Cork bounced back from their disappointing display against Meath on opening weekend by blowing Kildare away with a 2-14 to 0-7 victory.

Dublin secured their second win in the division by handing Ray Dempsey’s Limerick side a 2-17 to 1-11 defeat at the TUS Gaelic Grounds.

The Dubs’ full-forward line of Ross McGarry, Dean Rock and Con O’Callaghan combined for 1-13, with Rock netting the goal from the penalty spot after 14 minutes.

Brian Fenton’s rebounded goal off an O’Callaghan effort made it 2-9 to 0-2 in the Leinster champions’ favour, ensuring their was no coming back for the hosts.
