Fermanagh Division 1 League Final Abandoned - 5 Like(s)
I think that if a team of young men on a winning streak can't play four games in four weeks then that says a lot about them. When you think of teams like Slaughtneil and all their dual players and the schedule they had to keep over the past few years, it really puts into perspective how fragile Derrygonnelly would appear to be. They are by far the strongest team in Fermanagh and would have won that game easily enough, but instead of winning a league final they want it postponed because they want more time to prepare. I say they should suck it up and get on with it. Its their loss, because that same weak mentality and lack of character will stop their championship run in the end anyway.

Canavan Or Gooch? - 3 Like(s)
Its Canavan, and to be honest it wasn't even a debate for me. I was lucky enough to see both in their prime and while Cooper was good, Canavan is perhaps one of the greatest ever. All I know is that if I was picking 15 players to win a match to save my life, Canavan would be on the field but Cooper would not.

Donegal Vs Fermanagh - 2 Like(s)
I see that yet again we have people whinging about Fermanagh playing defensive. They can whinge all they like, simple fact is that if teams like Fermanagh try to go toe to toe with the bigger teams then there is only one outcome, they lose and lose badly. I've seen Fermanagh getting their pat on the back for trying their best but losing, its patronising rubbish and personally I would have no more interest in entertaining people from counties who would probably roll over and give up the game if they only had 19 clubs to choose from. Fermanagh don't have the numbers to compete, they need a leveller and unfortunately defensive systems are the only leveller that works. I'd damn sure rather be Fermanagh than be an Antrim or Louth right now, at least we make a damn fight of it.

Connacht pulling out of Railway Cup - 2 Like(s)
If the GAA had an ounce of business sense they would ditch the compromise rules, put their full backing behind the interpros, support it and market it properly and very quickly you would have a competition that would rival the likes of the State of Origin no problem. The best of the best playing each other over the course of two weekends, such an easy sell for any competent marketer and yet instead years of neglect has seen it die a slow death. Just shows where the priorities are for certain sections of the GAA leadership.

Tyrone in 00s v Dublin in the 10s - 2 Like(s)
I have little doubt that Tyrone could have taken them actually. Even at a basic level, if you consider how close Mayo ran Dublin in recent years, well, that Tyrone team were a hell of a lot better than this Mayo team. Furthermore, that Tyrone team had already proven itself against some very good teams, not least a Kerry team that itself could lay claim to being one of the greatest ever. They repeatedly beat the team of Moynihan, the O'Se's, Cooper, etc etc. You don't need to wonder if Tyrone could beat the best, they did it and the proof is there. I have great respect for this Dublin team but I've always thought that they have been given an easy ride somewhat in recent years, that Tyrone team is a huge step up on anything they have had to face since Gavin took the reigns.

O Cinneide comments on 2005 AI Final - 2 Like(s)
Its easy to say now that they should have started a fight, like some skinny guy talking big after the fact about what he would have done to that bully, but the fact is that the reason they didn't respond then was because subconsciously they didn't want a fight with that Tyrone team. You don't decide to have a fight or not, it happens as a gut reaction to events on the field and if you have no fear of the opposition you will be straight in there without thinking. If it had been a Mayo player gouged Cooper in the eye you would have had Kerry players throwing shapes all over the field and laying revenge hits left right and centre, because they felt superior to teams like Mayo and wouldn't have let them away with a thing. But not that Tyrone team, they didn't want a bit of them and so instead of standing up for Cooper you have Kerry players talking to the umpires, because thats what people do when deep down they don't want that fight. O'Cinneide says they should have picked a fight, as if it was some tactical decision that the team got wrong. The fact is that they never had a choice, if they had had the balls for that fight then they would have had it, but they didn't. Of course, there is also the small fact that there were few teams as ready for a fight as that Tyrone team and that it would have ended badly for Kerry had they went that road, but then Kerry's innate knowledge of that fact is the point I suppose.

Neil McGee sending off - 2 Like(s)

Replying To SamOnErrigal:  "I don't like these type of hits and any player lashing out like that deserves to be punished.
But let's take a look back a few years ago to the 2009 All Ireland final.
T Kennellys challenge on N Murphy.
Was it any different from what N McGee done yesterday? Did T Kennelly get sent off or better still should he have been sent off ??
Last year in the Mayo v Dublin game how many punches were thrown and how many got suspended. ?
I hope the County board appeals Neills red card.
I'm not disputing the fact that it was a red card but why punish N McGee when a host of similar players got red cards overturned. Nor would I throw the book at Quigley. I blame the GAA for all this --they had chances last year and indeed previous years to firmly state that incidents like this won't be tolerated
But every county must be treated equally and that is not happening at the moment
The standard of reffing needs to be looked at and indeed refs need more help
Also they should not be able to choose their umpires and to be honest they seem to be there just to raise a flag -- green or white. They never see any wrongdoing."
I see the "whataboutery" is strong in this thread, as if Cassidy not getting his red somehow means McGee didn't smash his forearm into a mans face.

Hopefully he gets a long ban, you can't claim a rush of blood to the head when he is at that stuff.

You would want to have a whopping plank in your eye to seriously think that the two ex managers didn't have every right to say their piece. They were treated disgracefully by their county yet still maintained their dignity, and I'm sure what rankles most to certain people about their words is the fact that everything they said seems to have a lot of truth in it.

The Mayo players could do with taking a long hard look at themselves and their behaviour.

Nothing new here, club players have been and continue to be treated like absolute dirt. The only real surprise is that they continue to sit there and take it. They are treated like second class citizens, club players should really be at the point where they cop themselves on and leave the game.

Why Mayo Cant Win An All-Ireland - 2 Like(s)
Who the hell dreams about a day out? My county never gets within an asses roar of Croke Park but if you offered me a losers days out I would tell you where to shove it. Might as well be at home on the couch if we aren't going there to win.

Donegal "Won't Have A Team" On Sunday - 1 Like(s)
How does the "pick club players" idea actually work in reality? Ring some lad still bloated from christmas, tell him that he is needed for one game only, that he will go out and get roasted by higher quality players who have actually been training, and then when the game is done he can disappear back to obscurity again? Like, who is that supposed to help? I would consider it very disrespectful to the club players to be honest. If Bonner wants them on his panel he can call them up to his panel, give them the same training and development given to all intercounty players. Don't just call them only when stuck and pretend that they should be honoured to represent their county or any of that rubbish.
