Dublin vs Monaghan - 7 Like(s)

Replying To Liamwalkinstown:  "I am gonna risk ridicule and embarrassment here and say Dubs will ate them"
No need to feel embarrassed, after all the Dubs have eaten players before.

Dublin' Costello throwing away the kicking tees - 4 Like(s)

Replying To neverright:  "Costelloo is shown, in footage in the Independent today, throwing away Clarke's kicking tees as he hurried to take a quick kick out after Rock's last score. Surely this was in equally poor taste as Keegan's throwing his GPS in the direction of Rock as he took his free. Amazingly neither the ref or or the umpires saw this or the fouling of three Mayo players as they tried to make themselves available for the kick-out. Perhaps more amazing is the fact that Charlie Redmond did not see any of that either or he would surely have being calling for 'examples' to be made of them as well as Keegan"
Oh the irony! Charlie Redmond whining about unsportsmanlike behaviour. I don't think his actions in the 95 final will ever be equalled.

Question for our Northern Brethren - 4 Like(s)
This is what the DUP's Gregory Campbell said after Tyrone's 2008 All- Ireland win: "I passed on my best wishes to Co Tyrone GAA football team which obviously is a Northern Ireland team in their victory over Co Kerry GAA Team from the Republic of Ireland in the GAA football final. "It is a factual position that Tyrone is a county in Northern Ireland and Kerry is a county in the Republic of Ireland . This year's GAA final amounted to an 'international' event. In any international tournament involving a team from Northern Ireland competing with a team from another country, I normally support the team representing Northern Ireland . This is how a significant proportion of Unionists view Gaelic Games. On top of this the "northern brethren" have to deal with anti northern sentiment from a significant number of or southern brethren.

It's as if Ulster doesn't exist! True, and RTE have just recently cut out the 6 northern counties in their maps.

Did Jonny Cooper dive? - 3 Like(s)
Whether you agree with it or not, diving is an established element of club and county football. What annoys me more than the diving is the inconsistent media and public reaction to specific diving incidents. For example these quotes can be attributed to the Sunday Game: Cooper dive- 'nothing incident' O'Shea (repeat offender) dive against Fermanagh- 'he felt the contact' Tiernan McCann dive- 'he should issue a public apology' There also seems to be a belief that some dives are worse than others. A dive is a dive. The outcome of the dive may differ, but it's still cheating. What we need is a consistent approach to tackle diving.

Replying To JayP:  "Mickey Harte is one of the great managers. But I'd hardly listen to him about morality and fairness. He has presented us with beautiful choirboy angelic teams....... errrmmm that played fairly and within the rules. Hardly. Mickey does too many interviews moaning about the gaa..... and anybody that disagrees with him. Again ...... top manager."
At least Mickey Harte doesn't regurgitate the same old drivel about 'playing football the right way' when his players have been involved in incidents of biting and eye gouging, certainly not the actions of angels.

Replying To rcarragh:  "True because Tyrone are the filth or because they are harshy judged?"
In the last few years two incidents have been highlighted more than any other- the Sean Cavanagh tackle on Ciaran McManus and the Tiernan McCann dive. Whilst I am not condoning their actions similar incidents such as these have been happening for years without the media outrage and public condemnations. When other counties have been guilty of similar offences we have had a much different media and public reaction and we often hear statements such as 'opportunism' and 'cute tourism' do defend players actions. So yes I believe Tyrone are 'harshly treated.' As regards to being 'filth' that tag could only be given to counties involved in incidents such as biting and eye gouging.

Aidan O'Shea Diving - 2 Like(s)
Why do i get the feeling that some of those criticizing O Shea today are the same ones probably defending the awful tiernan McCaan after his antics last year, whinging about an anti Ulster agenda or something of that kind? No room for hypocrisy or tribalism when it comes to this issue. Cheaters are scum and have no place in the GAA, whatever colors are on their jersey. Absolute rubbish. Can you show me the defence of Tiernan McCann by Tyrone or other GAA folk? People acknowledged that MCCann's actions were completely indefensible but they took exception to the manner in which he was treated in the aftermath. Pundits and other idiots creating new sanctions and asking for apologies, it was ridiculous. Aidan O'Shea has form for this sort of thing and he has cheated Fermanagh out of a huge win but it will blow over in a couple of days unlike the McCann Incident.

Mayo v Tyrone - 2 Like(s)
As most people acknowledge both teams are evenly matched but I fear that the deciding factor in this game will be the referee. Tyrone tend to get the shi##y end of the stick when it comes to refereeing decisions and for this reason Mayo are the most likely winners. To counterbalance biased refereeing decisions Tyrone will need to be at least 6-7 points better than Mayo to scrape a close victory.

Meath vs Donegal - 2 Like(s)

Replying To Donegal_abroad:  "Just home from the game. Exciting contest and well done both teams for that. Meath crowd very vocal and boisterous, great atmosphere. Meath will feel hard done by. The score to win the game was fantastic. The run by Ryan McHugh was superb, he cut through 4 players to make he angle for Paddy McBrearty whose finish was sublime. Donegal showed real composure in that regard. Still some of the old failings from Donegal but a much improved display in many areas. I wish we would run at teams more directly instead of laterally.. When we do we are dangerous. The pace we have is huge. Needs to be utilised more. Defensively there just isn't enough physicality and the looseness we have at times is not good enough if we are to be a top level team. Michael Murphy was our driving force tonight but Ryan McHugh's final 10 minutes was the winning of the game. When he really drove at Meath they couldn't handle him and he was clinical. A great plus to see him back in form. Only downside was the massive delay in Aughnacloy on the way home because some band were playing up and down the street as they have a big gig coming up on the 12th or something.."
Totally agree. With the system Donegal employ they are not fully utilising their best assets. When they ran directly at Tyrone in the semi final they caused them real problems, but too often as you say they revert to lateral passing. Only a change in mind set or management is going to rectify this. When stuck in Aughnacloy you should have made an effort to get a closer look at the band and listen to their 'all inclusive celebrations'. I am sure they would be very welcoming to people in southern reg cars with Donegal tops on.

Thank goodness it wasn't a Tyrone player making a dive like that. I await the cross country condemnation of Aidan O'Shea.

Replying To manfromdelmonte:  "UCD didn't even have their best players on the field county players should not be playing sigerson"
Sour grapes- I thought you specialised in oranges. St Mary's have only around 200 male students to choose from. How many other colleges have or could win a Sigerson with such limited resources. The players and coaches deserve huge respect for what they have achieved.

Yawnnnnnn… you are like a broken record. We get it you don't like Tyrone but the reason why Mickey Harte does not speak to RTE has been explained to you several times in previous discussions. You are obviously either a slow learner or a WUM, albeit a terrible one.
