It was worse than it sounded... trust me. We persistently kicked the ball out to the same area when it was plain to see that this strategy was not working. Louth were able to dominate because of this. When we changed this stategy we got back into it but it was to late. Div 3 next year it is and in truth that is our level. No real progress shown yet under this management. We all know that our underage has been poor .

Yes wally we have had no Ulster titles in 25 years at senior level and no Ulster titles in almost 20 years at minor level. We are all very aware of this in Down and this statistic wont change short term. We are miles of the mighty Tyrone. We have been behind in the standards and structures set by other counties in Ulster but we all realise this in Down. Our county board are putting more emphasize with our development squads than previously with a target to try and get our teams competitive for which we haven't been for sometime. If we can achieve this then there is chance an Ulster title is achieveable as we do have talented players but we wont make any bold predictions at this point .

Well done to Mayo. Down progressing in the right direction and need to hold on to Tally I think. If we can manage to get a handful of u20s into the team next year should be in a position to start challenging donegal and Tyrone for Ulster honours.

Monaghan thrashed us last year by 19 points. It was the worst hammering in championship I can recall and it left the county at our lowest ebb. We now have a chance to do do something about it.... hopefully we can deliver and I think we have better setup than last year. Monaghan still red hot favourites though....

Kilcoo just too experienced and are deserved winners. Carryduff will benefit from participating in final and will Learn what is required to win it. They have a young squad and if they all stick at it they have a chance of winning it in the next few years. I hope they do. Well done kilcoo and pity there is no ulster championship.

Tough game coming for our u17 footballers. Tyrone are the all ireland champions at this level. The outcome of this game should give us a good indication of how our underage plan is performing in the county. Tyrone are the county to beat in ulster these days . Come on down.
