The Fitzgibbon Cup is down to its quarter-final stages following the conclusion of last night’s group matches in the competition.

Niall Coen and Cian Folan provided the goals as ATU Galway came from seven points behind at half-time to defeat TUS Midwest by 2-21 to 1-18.

The victory progresses the Galway students through to a quarter-final date with UCC while TUS Midwest bow out of the competition.

Last night’s other clash saw UCC overcome UCD by 0-19 to 0-13 in Group C, with both teams having already secured their places in the knock-out stages.

UCD will now take on holders UL for a place in the semi-finals.

Fitzgibbon Cup quarter-finals:

DCU v SETU Waterford, DCU Sportsground: February 8th, 6.15pm

University of Galway v SETU Carlow, Dangan: 8 February 8th, 7pm
