Brid Stack has been released from hospital after suffering a neck injury during her AFLW debut with GWS Giants yesterday.

The 11-time All-Ireland winner received precautionary spinal control treatment after a collision with opponent Ebony Marinoff, with subsequent scans showing a stable fraction of C7 vertebrae.

The Cork native was released from hospital early Monday morning (Irish time) and is now expected to make a full recovery.

“This was an incredibly unfortunate accident and we’re thankful that Brid has avoided injury,” said GWS Giants Head of Women’s Football, Bri Harvey.

“Brid and her family have made incredible sacrifices to come to Australia and play in the AFL Women’s competition and we will be supporting them all the way through her recovery.

“We’d like to thank all those who provided Brid with the best possible care both at the ground and in the hospital across Sunday.”
