the bottom line is if it happened in a lesser game there would have been nothing about it.the louth lad was just used to "prove" that its happening at all levesl.it is not.i recently seen an umpire being "interfered" with after he failed to give a point..the reperters never reported it or i never heard any more about it..connolly is the most scrutinised player in ireland(lee keegan second) as was paul galvin before him..and jim gavin was dead right to say what he said.

If Ger had stood his ground the Central Council would have found it very difficult to force Clare to replay that game" i read a link as i wouldnt buy that rag..loughnanne letting himself down big time.he seems to be still bitter after his failed tenure as galway manager. .the galway manager seems in the jim gavin(does he remind anyone of father trendy anyone?) mode.calm quiet spoken and logical. his interview after the game was a logic and calm assesment of where it went wrong and the killian buckley save etc and how vital it was. having said all that they will have to take a look at the mindset of hitting over a few "easy" points with 5 min to go to keep the scoreboard respectable?im sure cody would have subbed the scorer instantly if a kk player done that. .i really think galway are not far away at all and still could have a big say yet in the destination of the all ireland with a few slight adjustments..

very hard to disagree with the goat assertion but look at the advantages they have.play all games at home. half the population of the country to pick from.unlimited money available.once they got organised and will be into the future they should win 60% of all irelands. having said that the big refereeing decisions always seem to go with them. 2011 the free that cluxton scored was soft.in the drawn 2016 final the ref hadnt the balls to penalise denis bastick for a blatant pick off the ground and he 10 yards away from it? so they may be the goat but they have a lot of things on their side..

I don't blame O'Shea here, he's as much of a defender as Any Moran or Cillian O'Connor are midfielders. With Donaghy setting up scores and Kerry not looking to pump high ball in well before the end of the first half wasn't a swap made. Surely, then is the time to switch someone like Vaughan across to him and let Aidan move further upfield where he could ask questions of a very dodgy looking Kerry defense.
the big weakness about the above is that kerry see aos moving up and off donaghy. then immediately they launch in missiles on top of vaughan..i wonder what will happen next!?!?

i would say henry was a great player in a great team. but maybe the greatest hurler of all time was from sligo? or kerry? or wesmeath?we will never know. likewise tommy walsh was great..as was dj. but would any of the 3 have all irelands or indeed allstars if they played with say louth? hardly. would david kilcloyne,shane brick ,pat crichley,the cuddy brothers,killian doyle,paddy purcell,shane conway or joe henry have multiple all ireland medals if they were from kilkenny? no doubt id say. the best ive seen,as part of great teams ? henry,dj, brian whelehan tommy walsh ,tony kelly,eoin kelly tipp, nicky english,joe cooney,john troy,johnny dooley, ollie and joe canning,jimmy barry murphy,seamus callinan,aidan fogarty,noel hickey,brian lohan sean mc mahon, jamsie,brendan cummins,eddie keher, john mullane ....and theres loads more..i never seen ringy sadly!!

the fortunes of offaly hurling were held back for many years by a very physical and bruising local club scene.the offaly senior hurlers were very close to beating kilkenny in 1969 losing 3.9 to 0.16 in the leinster final. several final appearances at underage level until finally offaly won the u21 in 1978.that team were the basis of the break through team of 1980. it can be argued that it needed the "neutral" face of dermot healy (aided ably by andy gallagher ) to gell the various factions together!! from there hurlng took off and birr school under brother denis won all irelands and the minors won 3 in a row minors. offaly were at or near the top then for 20 years culminating in that defeat to kilkenny in 2000.since then the graph has gone steadly downwards which brings no joy to any hurling people. lets hope theres another rich vein of talent coming through soon in offaly..the more competitive teams the better..

im glad the gooch has a medal to complete his collection before he retires. but i thought the ref and his official's decisions were absolutely puzzling today. I attended the first round of the munster club, crokes and kib of clare and crokes targeted the 2 best forwards of the opposition and just continually fouled them when the game was in the melting pot with no sanction. i also seen all crokes games all the way to the all ireland final and the theme continued..
