Athy will play Ballyboden St Enda’s in the Leinster club senior football championship final after both sides recorded comfortable victories in their respective semi-finals this afternoon.

‘Boden were 2-19 to 0-10 winners over Tullamore at Glenisk O'Connor Park, where Ross McGarry and Colm Basquel netted the goals for the Dublin champions.

The visitors were 1-5 to 0-3 ahead when Basquel fired a 21st minute penalty to the net for them, as they moved towards a commanding 2-12 to 0-4 advantage at the break.

Tullamore registered the first six scores of the restart, including a hat-trick of Harry Plunkett frees, to drag themselves back in, but the scores of Daire Sweeney and Ryan O’Dwyer closed out the capital men’s win as they now return to the Seán McCabe Cup decider for the first time since 2019.

In Newbridge, Athy reached their club's first Leinster club SFC final by seeing off Portlarlington on a 0-19 to 0-11 scoreline.

The Kildare champions made an electric start against their Laois counterparts to run up a 0-8 to 0-1 lead after 15 minutes and David Hyland’s two-pointer, along with singles from Conor Doyle, would usher them towards a 13-point advantage come the break.

Portarlington did narrow their deficit back to eight points with the help of scores by substitute Jake Foster, Colm Murphy, who struck a pair of two-point frees, and Rioghan Murphy, but they’d only register two more points in the closing quarter.

Hyland and Kelly (2) rounded off Athy’s winning tally after that, as they now get set to face ‘Boden in next Saturday's Leinster club SFC decider at Croke Park (4.30pm).
