Mayo GAA community mourn passing of talented young footballer

Raphael Sunday RIP.

The GAA community in north Mayo has been plunged into mourning following the tragic passing of one of its brightest young footballers.

Raphael Sunday, who was a talented player with Erris St Pat's, an underage amalgamation of the Ballycroy and Kiltane GAA clubs, and was a third-year student at St Brendan’s College in Belmullet, died suddenly yesterday.

The youngster put in a man-of-the-match performance for Erris St Pat’s in their U16 county final victory over Bonniconlon last year. Also a talented soccer player, Raphael was a regular with Bangor Hibs FC and trained at Geesala Boxing club.

The Ballycroy and Kiltane GAA clubs and North Mayo Board expressed their sympathies on Twitter.
