Tyrone's Harry Loughran has retired from gaelic football because of injury.

The Moy Tir na nOg forward made six championship appearances for the Red Hands since 2017 and had a knack of scoring goals at crucial times, most notably his extra-time winner in the All-Ireland qualifier against Meath that year, although a long standing back problem denied him the chance to fulfil his potential in the county jersey.

Aged just 26, Loughran's injury woes started as a teenager after he suffered a stress fracture to his lower back which sidelined him for four years.

He battled back and starred for his club Moy in their run to All-Ireland IFC glory in 2018, scoring a dramatic late goal in the semi-final win over An Ghaeltacht of Kerry and followed up with another major in the decider against Michael Glaveys.

In November 2019, Loughran underwent surgery to address the problem in his quest for a full recovery, but has been forced to call it a day.
