A referee started the second half of a Cork JFC 'B' quarter-final at the weekend with only one team on the field!
The bizarre incident happened during the game between Ballyphehane and Glanworth on the 4G pitch beside Páirc Uí Chaoimh. According to local reports, the Ballyphehane team were a bit late returning to the field after the half-time break and the referee decided to restart without them.
Glanworth scored a goal in their absence, but they wouldn't score again as Ballyphehane took retribution to run out easy winners. Having already won Cork JFC 'C' and City JFC 'B' titles, Ballyphehane are now just two games away from completing a hat-trick of championship successes.
