Cork defender Liam O’Donovan played his first minutes since July 2020 after coming on for Clonakilty in their junior hurling championship quarter-final clash against Dohenys last Sunday.
O’Donovan tore his cruciate ligament while on duty for his club in a challenge match against Valley Rovers some 14 months ago and underwent an operation in August 2020.
The 22-year-old suffered a set-back in his return, which saw him missing out on Cork footballers' entire 2021 campaign, but he has since returned to action.
Southernstar.ie reports that O’Donovan was introduced as a half-time substitute last Sunday in Ballinacarriga, where Clonakilty fell to a 1-17 to 0-15 defeat in the end.
