Clare U20 hurlers will have to make do without key attacking duo Mark Rodgers and Shane Meehan for this year's championship campaign.

Rodgers is not allowed to play against Kerry in this evening's Munster U20HC opener at Austin Stack Park - because he came on as a substitute in the closing stages of the Banner County's recent SHC provincial quarter-final win over Waterford.

Any player who has lined out for their county’s senior team is ineligible for the U20 grade, even if they are underage.

Promising dual player Meehan, meanwhile, is sidelined for three months with a wrist injury.

Clare (Munster U20HC v Kerry): Cian Broderick; Mike Gough, Darragh Healy, Adam Hogan; Adam Mungovan, Aidan Moriarty, Dylan McMahon; Paddy Donnellan, Colm O'Meara; Oisin O'Donnell, William Halpin, Jack Kirwan; Connor Hegarty, Shane Punch, Diarmuid Cahill.

Subs: Aron Shanahan, Conor Leen, James Maguire, Ian MacNamara, Patrick Ryan, Kealan Guyler, Kevin Keane, Jarlath Collins, Robin Mounsey.
