Killygarry chasing history in Sunday's Cavan SFC final

October 14, 2022

Killygarry dethroned Ramor United of their Cavan SFC crown two weeks ago

Killygarry will be looking to write their way into the record books when they face Gowna in this Sunday’s Cavan senior football championship final.

It’s the Crubany men’s first county SFC final in 51 years and, having lost 1-12 to 1-4 to the mighty Crosserlough on that occasion, Jody Devine’s charges are bidding for their club's inaugural Oliver Plunkett Cup success this weekend.

In their way stand a Gowna side which have delivered some outstanding performances since squeezing into the quarter-finals after needing results to go their way in the fourth round.

The Longford border men were defeated by Ramor United on this very same stage last year (after a replay) and need no extra motivation going into another decider roughly 12 months on.

On show at Kingspan Breffni on Sunday will be some of the best talent in the county, with Cian Reilly, Conor Smith and Darragh Lovett (Killygarry) and Cian Madden, Conor Madden and Conor Casey (Gowna) all being key to their respective team’s chances, along with veterans Martin Reilly and Mark McKeever on either side.

Throw-in is at 4pm.
