Olympic medallist Heffernan joins Cork football backroom team

Olympic bronze medallist Rob Heffernan has linked up with the Cork senior footballers as the team’s performance coach ahead of the 2023 season.
The Rebel County native becomes the latest high-profile additions to John Cleary’s backroom team, with former Galway boss and two-time All-Ireland winner Kevin Walsh having recently joined the set-up.
Cork GAA confirmed the new of Heffernan inclusion in the set-up last night, with Walsh, Ray Keane (MTU/St Finbarr's), Barry Corkery (Éire Óg), James Loughrey (Mallow) and Mícheál Ó Cróinín (Naomh Abán) all having been named selectors under Cleary for the forthcoming campaign.
The 44-year-old represented Ireland in five Olympic Games between 2000 and 2016, winning a bronze medal in 2012, and also won gold in the 50k at the 2013 World Championships in Moscow.
