PJ Kelly is the new Laois GAA chairman.

Kelly was elected unopposed in succession to Peter O'Neill at last night's annual convention in the Midlands Park Hotel, Portlaoise. He is the third Timahoe man to hold the position after Sean Ramsbottom and Dick Miller.

There were two contests which saw outgoing vice-chairman Tom Clear (Clough-Ballacolla) defeat Mary Whelan (Ballypickas) and Jody Conway (Clonaslee-St Manman's), and Richie Kennedy (outgoing) and Brian Allen elected as Leinster Council delegates at the expense of Whelan and Conway. The position of PRO remains unfilled.

Laois GAA recorded a surplus of €505,132 for the 11-month period to September 30 last which treasurer Martin Byrne attributed to Covid-19.
