Burren buried three second-half goals to saunter to a 3-21 to 1-8 victory over last year's intermediate winners Saul in tonight's Down SFC opener at Liatroim.

Leading by 0-10 to 0-4 at the break, Jim McCorry's side were always in command and majors from captain Donal O’Hare, Liam Kerr and Danny Magill on the resumption rubber stamped their authority.

Defending champions Kilcoo will open the defence of their title against Mayobridge at Pairc Esler on Sunday.

In the other first round ties, Carryduff, who reached their first ever senior final last year, meet RGU Downpatrick at Darragh Cross, Bredagh come up against Castlewellan in Downpatrick (both tomorrow), Loughinisland take on Ballyholland in Newcastle and Clonduff face Rostrevor at Pairc Esler (both Sunday).
