Dublin hurling manager Mattie Kenny believes his team are still making progress despite exiting the All-Ireland SHC race yesterday evening.

The Dubs went down in a 2-26 to 0-24 defeat to Cork in Thurles at the quarter-final stage yesterday, bringing the curtain down on their 2021 campaign.

Speaking to Off The Ball afterwards, Kenny said he was in no doubt that the team are making progress.

“We are making progress,” he stated. “Obviously we would like to be making it at a quicker rate.

“Being competitive in these games and being exposed to the business end of the championship is key to us going forward; key for Dublin going forward.

“The more we get exposed to this, the better we will deal with this in the future. Are we making progress? Of course we are!

“There are a number players that can step up to this level that we can integrate into this set-up and build for the future.

“This team is getting better, it is getting better every year. We just have to go again, get our heads down and learn from the little mistakes and what happened here tonight.”
