Antrim football champions Cargin have been handed a huge boost ahead of Sunday’s county final against Creggan Kickhams after Mick McCann and Martin Kane had their suspensions overturned this week.

Both players were red-carded in the latter stages of Cargin’s semi-final victory over Lamh Dhearg earlier this month and stood suspended for the final against their neighbours.

However, Tuesday night’s appeal by the pair saw Antrim CCC’s overturn both players’ red cards.

The club were informed of the decision on Wednesday morning via e-mail, with video footage from Antrim’s GAA’s Facebook broadcast and from a BBC camera understood to have helped both cases.’

Cargin are in pursuit of a three-in-a-row success this weekend against Kickhams, whom last won the Antrim SFC crown in 1954.
