Minister for Sports Catherine Martin has arranged for sporting bodies to meet with Minister for Health Stephen Donnelly and the Acting Chief Medical Officer Dr Ronan Glynn in relation to Covid-19 restrictions.
Representatives from the GAA, FAI, IRFU and Sport Ireland will be invited to the meeting to outline their concerns over the current ban that is in place for supporters at sporting fixtures.
Last month NPHET recommended that matches should be played behind closed doors and that outdoor training should be restricted to 15 people.
The GAA subsequently issued a statement seeking to meet with Dr Glynn and NPHET to establish the ‘empirical evidence’ which informed that decision.
Reports suggest that Minister Martin is eager to lift the restrictions on attendance at games.
