Crossmaglen Rangers booked their slot in this year’s Armagh senior football championship final after being pushed all the way by Killeavy yesterday evening.

It finished 0-15 to 0-13 at the Athletic Grounds, where a brace of points from Darragh O’Callaghan made all the difference for the holders.

Stephen Kernan’s men had led by double scores at the break (0-10 to 0-5) and a superb score from Cian McConville had them six up early in the restart.

However, Tony Kernan’s dismissal for the would-be winners saw the game turn as points from Kyle Mallon, Ronan McGuinness (2) and Ciaran O’Hanlon brought Killeavy right back into contention before the water break.

The short break didn’t halt their momentum either, rattling off three more points without reply as O’Hanlon landed the leveller on 54 minutes.

In those final minutes it was the three-in-a-row chasing Rangers that dug deepest, with O’Callaghan hitting back-to-back scores that sealed their September 13th final berth.
