Former Tipperary goalkeeper Brendan Cummins believes that Antrim have “all the attributes” when it comes to competing at hurling’s top level.
The Saffrons ensured their Allianz League Division 1 status this past Saturday when they recused a well-earned draw against Davy Fitzgerald’s Wexford side at Corrigan Park, where Keelan Molloy’s point deep in injury-time earned a share of the spoils on a 1-21 to 2-18 scoreline.
Speaking on RTÉ's Allianz League Sunday, Cummins said he reckons that the Glensmen could put it up to any team in the country at the moment.
"They've all the attributes that you need," said the two-time All-Ireland winner. "Darren Gleeson is very tactically aware. He has the players' full buy-in. You could see Darren and Neil McManus eye-balling each other after the match as if to say, 'yeah - we're starting to show the world what we can do here.
"When you go to Corrigan Park it's like Galatasaray going into the place," he joked.
"You can feel it dripping out of the place that they want success (and) it's rubbed onto the players now. They're big, they're physical, they have a way of playing and they believe in what they're trying to do.
"Fair play to them - I didn't see it as a surprise when they beat Clare in the first round no more than giving Wexford a good game there."
