Remaining Allianz League matches to be played behind closed doors

Remaining matches in the Allianz Hurling and Football Leagues will be played behind closed doors, including those taking place in the northern province.

Fans will no longer be able to attend matches in the 26 counties under the new measures introduced by the Government last Monday. The situation is different in the six counties where spectators are permitted at sporting events since 23 July with up to 500 allowed into grounds during the club championships before the GAA pulled the plug on all competitions at grassroots level

The GAA are waiting for an update from the Northern Ireland Executive on crowd restrictions but the Association's Director of Player, Club and Games Administration Feargal McGill confirmed to RTE's Saturday Sport programme yesterday that the Allianz League ties scheduled for the next two weekends "will be played behind closed doors regardless of whether they’re in the North or the South."
