Patsy Burke mourned throughout Wicklow
July 04, 2008
There was sadness in the world of sheep farming and Baltinglass football in particular following the death on Thursday last (26 June) of Patsy Burke formerly of Tuckmill who died in Naas Hospital having lived in Belan Street for a number of years.
Patsy was the last surviving member of the Baltinglass team that won the Junior Football Championship in 1943. For many years he served as chairman of the club, served on many committees and was Vice-President up to the time of this death. His son Peter had a glorious football career and represented his club and county with distinction, as a midfielder and Patsy's memory will be well served by this grandson Peader with the present Baltinglass team. Kieran too has deep involvement in GAA affairs managing various teams including St. Kevins and Baltinglass.
His late wife Ina and son Pat are deceased and his daughter Marion and sons Peter, Michael, Kevin and Kieran survive him.
