Limerick's rather exuberant fist-pumping during last night's Munster U21 HC final certainly did not go unnoticed.

The fine art of the perfectly-delivered fist-pump has become a modern phenomenon in gaelic games, with players evidently queueing up for an opportunity to get in on the act. At the Gaelic Grounds on Wednesday night, as the Treaty County battled bravely to a hard-fought victory over Cork to secure a deserved eighth provincial title in the U21 grade, they also established themselves as potential All-Ireland fist-pumping champions.

For better or for worse, it went down a storm with viewers, as social media reacted to some of the most enthusiastic on-the-pitch celebrations witnessed this year - not to mark scores or the final whistle but, rather, the coveted free-out and sideline ball.

It all started early in the first half when the Shannonsiders were awarded a sideline ball inside their own half - something to celebrate wildly these days, apparently.

There was another outburst to greet a seemingly-innocuous free-out before the break. And, deep into injury time, as the hosts held on frantically to a three-point lead, their entire defence participated in a synchronised outbreak of fist-pumping that was almost artistic in merit. It was a sight to behold as half a dozen men leapt to the air in unison, executing co-ordinated fist pumps and follow-ups in perfect harmony with one another.
