U14 girls - The girls had great victories in both the Wicklow and Kildare leagues this week. It was another very busy week for the girls as they had three matches. First game was Tues in Kildare League away to Cappagh. The girls had a good win with a great team performance which had many outstanding performances. Megan Rigney had another excellent game and was our player of the match. Both the Blue team and the White team had games on Thurs and both teams won. The white team had a great performance against a strong Barndarrig team who were unbeaten to date. Great scores from Orlaith Ni Ghallchobair, Sadhb Cotter, Emma Wilcox, Sadhbh Fisher, Niamh Kinsella giving a half time lead of 2-5 to 1-1. The expected fight back from Barndarrig happened in the 2nd half and they closed to within 2 points. However, the Blessington girls defended brilliantly with some excellent tackling and blocking on display. Our girls finished stronger and ended the game 2-8 to 2-3. Sash Fisher was in flying form and was our player of the match. The blue team also had a great performance on Thurs against St Pats and came out on top with a comfortable winning margin against the Wicklow Town girls. This was again a great team performance by all our girls and Erin King was the Player of the Match. Some wayward shooting in all our games gives us some work to do in training. All the girls should be proud of their progress and recent performances. Big thanks to all parents and girls for travelling this week as they were late nights for all.
U12 girls - Our U12 Girls were away to Eadestown on Sun 21 May for their first Kildare League game of the season. What a game and what a win! Down by 7 points at halftime the girls played a blinder in the second half with their unbelievable work rate and the best TEAM performance of the year to win 3-6 to 3-5! There's just no stopping this team. Another busy week ahead would be great to see some extra support for this great bunch of players in the following fixtures (lets continue the unbeaten run!!) Tue 23rd Home v Bray 7.30. Thurs 25th Away v Naas 7pm.

Our U11 NKL team had a very good league win at home on Sat 20 against Kilcock.
On Sun 21 May we attended the Cuala Buala festival of football hosted by Cuala GAA. The blitz was for U10 & 11 teams and featured 24 teams from 8 counties. Our U10 team won their group matches against two Cuala teams and a very entertaining match against Pearse Og from Armagh. This left them Gael Colmcille from Kells Co. Meath in the final and despite being close at half time our lads pulled away in the second half to record a great win which included some superb scoring and gallant defending. The U11 competition was graded and so the opposing teams were of a very high quality. Our lads played Cuala B, Maynooth and Seneschalstown from Meath in their group. After two narrow losses and a big win in the group matches we then faced Cuala's A team in the final where unfortunately we came up short after missing some good opportunities for scores at crucial times. A big thanks to Cuala GAA for inviting us to very well run blitz.
We are away this week in the U11 Wicklow league with 2 teams travelling to St Pats in Group 1 and another team travelling to face Aughrim in Group 4.
U12/U13 - Training Wed 6:30 to 8pm and Friday 6 to 7:30pm. Good to see a few of the players for Blessington involved in the Wicklow U13 Development squad training for the last few Saturdays. U13's are away to Baltinglass on Mon 22 May at 6:30.
U14 Kildare league - Blessington U14's played their second Kildare league match last Wed and came out on top with a gutsy performance against talented St Edwards side. Very little between these two with Blessington just hanging on with a heroic defensive effort to edge this one 5-9 to 2-17.
