Rathnew GAA is mourning the passing of club stalwart Anthony 'Anto' Doyle.

Anto was the cornerstone of 'The Village' for many years, fulfilling numerous roles from running the gym and clubhouse to getting ice baths ready. He was also involved in Harry Murphy's backroom team during his time in charge of Wicklow and was proud to see his son Tommy wear the green and red of Rathnew.

Among those to pay tribute to Anto was former Wicklow midfielder James Stafford, who described him as 'Mr Rathnew GAA'.

"Can't believe your gone old pal mr Rathnew Gaa, I think I could speak for the senior team training and match days will never be the same always kept us on our toes always looked after the lads on championship days your presence will be missed goodnight my friend," Stafford posted on Facebook.
