Wicklow club host novel fundraiser

There are many connections between the GAA and the farming community with Wicklow club Carnew Emmets taking the bond one step further.

Carnew have come up with the novel idea to help fundraise for the further development of their grounds, by purchasing 25 calves.

The club have farmed out the calves to club members and supporters, who free of charge will rare the calves until they are fit for sale in October, 2017.

Twenty five farmers in the locality have signed on for the fundraiser with the calves being delivered to each farm last Saturday afternoon.

Fundraising is an integral part of sustaining the financial side of a club and there has been many different ventures tried over the years.

However, Carnew Emmets have surely led the way in thinking of new ways to raise funds!
