Minor Hurling Championship

Delvin               3-15
Na Piarsaigh    3-9

Delvin took on the combined forces of Lough Lene Gaels & Turin in this Division 2 semi final played in Clonkill on Sunday morning and after a tough encounter came out on top on a scoreline of 3-15 to 3-9. Delvin ran into a early 2-4 to 0-0  after goals from Dean Ennis and Josh Doherty but Na Pirsaigh finished the half stronger to leave it 2-6 to 1-4 at the break. Delvin struggled after the break with an injury to senior star Adam Ennis but they always stayed that 3/4 points ahead and ran out deserving winners by 6 points with an impressive return from Dean Ennis of 2-8. We now face the winners of the Cullion/Clann naGael semi final with the final fixed as curtain raiser to the Intermediate Final in Cusack Park next Saturday. It was a lot to ask of this young team as 7 of them had played an u16 football semifinal the previous afternoon.

Team & Scorers:- Luke Dalton, Liam Carolan, Brian Herward, Peter Fallon, Adam McCormack, Adam Ennis (0-1), Shane Vaughan, Josh Coll (0-3), Dean Ennis (2-8), James Connell (0-3), Lonan Manny, Jack Walsh, John Farrelly, Dean Caroll, Josh Doherty (1-0). Subs:- Podge Kelleghan, Tommy Griffin, Ross Gaffney, Ben McCormack

Junior Hurling Championship

Delvin                      2-11
Lough Lene Gaels  2-18

A poor finish to the first half of this game played in Delvin on Saturday last combined with a couple of soft second half goals were the main factors in a game that was a little closer than the scoreline suggested. With 20 mins of first period played we were tied at 1-4 to 0-7 after a well taken Stefan Ennis goal but we let the Gaels in for 7 unanswered points to leave us down at the break 1-4 to 0-14. Despite playing the better hurling in the second period 2 soft goals conceded meant we were always fighting an uphill battle. A peach of a goal from Sean Gaffney kept us in touch but it wasn't to be.

Team & Scorers:- Ollie Cassidy, John Cogan, Frank McGrath, Daniel Flynn, Lonan Manny, Adam Ennis (0-3), Paddy Poynton, Stefan Ennis (1-0), Johnny Ivory, Eoin Carolan (0-7), Fintan Cox (0-1), Dan Clune, John Vaughan, Ger Clune, Sean Gaffney (1-0). Subs:- Dean Poynton for Cogan, Cogan for Manny

U16 Division 3 Football Semi Final

Northern Gaels   2-14
Moate All Whites 2-6

The amalgamation of Delvin/St Paul's/Ballycomoyle deservedly reached the final of the Division 3 championship after a tough encounter played in Ballinagore last Saturday. Playing against a strong first half wind Northern Goes went in at half time down by 2 on a scoreline of 2-2 to 0-6. But the North Westmeath side showed great power and skill in the second period to run out convincing 8 point winners with impressive returns of 10 points from the boot of Jack Walsh and 1-2 from Dean Ennis. They now advance to the Division Final where  they will meet Tubberclair who defeated Multyfarnham in the other semi final 4-11 to 4-10. Well done to all involved.
