Handball: McCarthy is US Open champion

Westmeath's Robbie McCarthy added another major handball title to his collection when he triumphed in the US Open last evening.
The Mullingar man defeated American second seed Mando Ortiz 21-4, 21-17 in California. He had earlier accounted for two other highly-rated Americans in Sean Lenning and Luis Moreno.
The victory caps a remarkable year for McCarthy who is the reigning All-Ireland 40x20 and 60x30 Singles champion.
