The Nire manager Benji Whelan admits that they were at a loss to try and stop Dr Crokes last Sunday.

The Kerry champions stormed to the Munster club SFC title in emphatic fashion as The Nire had no answer for their outstanding display.

Whelan admitted to the Waterford News & Star that they didn't have the answers on the line, but he added that his players gave it their all against a far superior side.

"There was very little you could do. We were scratching our heads on the sideline, what can you do when a team does that to you?," said Whelan.

"In fairness to the boys, the one thing I will say, when we regrouped at half-time we said 'look lads we're playing for pride now'. In the second half, we went out and played a bit of football. We didn't cut them to shreds or anything like that but we got a couple of nice scores. They kept working until the end and you can't ask any more of a team in that position. That was heartening."
