Conor Whelan has been included at full-forward in the Galway starting fifteen for tomorrow's All-Ireland U21HC final against Waterford in Thurles despite an injury.
The senior star damaged his AC joint (shoulder) in last month's 0-21 to 0-19 semi-final win over Dublin after extra-time at the Semple Stadium venue and was considered to be "still a doubt" by manager Tony Ward in the build up to this weekend.
Ward's selection shows two changes from the previous day with Turloughmore duo Vincent Doyle (right half-back) and Sean Linnane (left half-forward) replacing Fintan Burke and Cian Burke respectively.
Fintan Burke is recovering from a knock he picked up while on club championship duty with St Thomas' but captain Brian Molloy (who scored 0-10 versus the Dubs) and influential defender Declan Cronin are both fit to start after minor injuries.
Galway (U21HC v Waterford): Cathal Tuohy; Conor Jennings, Darragh O'Donoghue, Declan Cronin; Vincent Doyle, Shane Cooney, Sean Loftus; Dan Nevin, Darragh Dolan; Kevin McHugo, Brian Molloy, Sean Linnane; Thomas Monaghan, Conor Whelan, Eanna Burke.
