Tadgh Ó hUallacháin hopes to secure his first championship victory in Waterford colours this weekend.

Na Deise host Tipperary at Fraher Field on Sunday for a Munster SFC tilt at Cork on June 12th and the corner back is gunning for his maiden scalp after losing six and drawing one game since breaking into the Waterford team:

"It would do the world of good for everybody involved with Waterford football. At senior level, you've got to set the standard for those young lads looking up to you. I don't have a championship win under my belt and to do it in front of a home crowd in Dungarvan would be fantastic. It's the kind of lift that Waterford football needs right now especially considering the year we're after having," the An Rinn clubman told The Waterford News & Star.

"It's tough to go year in, year out and not to get a championship win. We've come very close over the last few years, more so in the qualifier system.

"We lost to Louth by a point [in the league] and Louth are now Division 4 champions. It was a game we should have won, we were ahead with about two or three minutes to go and for some reason, whether it was lack of experience or not being able to put the foot on the neck. It is tough to take.

"The game against Wexford was another turning point in our season. Certain decisions didn't go our way and I really put it down to that. To work so hard and to have something like that go against you is tough to take. It means that we're very close and only small things need to be fixed for us to get this right."
