Waterford under-21 manager Sean Power believes that the backroom team he has in place will help give them an edge this year.

Power, who was over the Waterford minor hurlers when they won the All-Ireland MHC three years ago, returns to work with many of the same players again.

He can call on the likes of Austin Gleeson, Patrick Curran, the Bennett brothers and Tom Devine, but he was keen to pay tribute to his backroom team of Paul Flynn, Eoin Kelly and Kieran O'Gorman.

"Paul Flynn will be head hurling coach for the under-21 team. His credentials go from senior inter county level all the way down to minor championships with his own club Ballygunner," Power told the Waterford News & Star.

He added: "This is probably a new approach to the game for Eoin Kelly. He has played at the top level for Waterford, he has two All-Stars and county championships as well. He is going to bring a different angle.

"Kieran O'Gorman was a great aid to me in 2013 and we are very close. We know each other's workings and we have built up a trust over the years. Bear in mind as well that Kieran and Paul were involved the last time we won the All-Ireland so I hope the players can learn from them."
