It was quarter-final day in the All-Ireland SHC with a mouth-watering doubleheader taking place at Thurles.

On one of the biggest days in the hurling calendar, Cork, Galway, Waterford and Dublin were all bidding to join Kilkenny and Tipperary in the semi-finals.

First up at 2pm, the unpredictable Dubs did battle with beaten Munster finalists Waterford, who have been one of the teams of the year so far.

The dust had settled when the Rebels and the terrific Tribesmen took to the Semple Stadium field for what promised to be a titanic winner-takes-all clash (4pm).
