Pauric Mahony is facing up to six months on the sidelines after suffering a serious leg injury last night.
The sharpshooter, who posted 1-90 in Waterford's triumphant Allianz Hurling League campaign, suffered a broken tibia playing for his club Ballygunner against Ballyduff in the first round of the county SHC and will undergo surgery tomorrow.
Mahony, who is due to sit exams this week, will be a huge loss to the Deise who are currently preparing for a Munster SHC semi-final against Cork in Thurles on June 7.
