There are fears that Waterford star Pauric Mahony sustained a broken leg in club championship action this evening.
Mahony - who sent over 11 points in last Sunday's league final victory over Cork - was taken away in an ambulance after a 17 minute delay to the Waterford SHC opener between Ballygunner and Ballyduff Upper at Fraher Field.
Ballygunner's 2-18 to 0-9 victory was overshadowed by the injury to the 22-year-old in the 46th minute and Deise supporters will be keeping their fingers crossed that the prognosis is not as bad as first feared.
